Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is located in the Manyara Region, neighbouring one of Tanzania’s largest lakes, Lake Manyara. The name originates from the Tarangire River that flows through the park and provides fresh water for the animals, especially in the dry season.

The park is famous for the highest density of elephants and baobab trees in the world. If you love elephants as much as we do, it’s a must visit. When you’ve had your fill of elephant sightings, there’s plenty more to see. Thousands of wildebeest and zebra congregate at the swamps and river, offering an easy target for lion and leopard. Giraffe, impala, gazelles, baboons, buffalo, hyena, over 550 species of birds, and much more, occupy the park.

The park covers an area of 2850 km2 and the landscape composed of granitic ridges, river valleys and swamps. Filled with acacia forests, grasslands, and old baobab trees.

The greater blue-eared starling is a 22 cm long, short tailed bird. This starling is glossy blue-green with a purple-blue belly and blue ear patch. Its iris is bright yellow or orange. The sexes are similar, but the juvenile is duller and has blackish brown underparts
It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List because leopard populations are threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, and are declining in large parts of the global range
the Serengeti is thought to hold the largest lion population in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem
